Dry Eye Assessment
Dry, irritated or watery eyes can make everyday activities uncomfortable.
Our Dry Eye Evaluation & Personalised Treatment service assesses your tear film, eyelids, ocular surface and contributing lifestyle factors to help identify the cause of your symptoms and recommend suitable treatment options for better comfort and eye health.
What We Assess
| Tear Film Quality | Evaluates the stability and quality of your tears to identify signs of dry eye and tear-film imbalance. |
| Eyelid & Meibomian Gland Function | Assesses the eyelids and oil-producing glands that help prevent tears from evaporating too quickly. |
| Ocular Surface Health | Examines the front surface of the eyes for dryness, irritation or other changes associated with dry eye. |
| Contributing Factors | Considers factors such as screen use, contact lenses, environment, allergies, medications and daily habits. |
Who Should Consider This Assessment?
- Burning, stinging, persistent redness, irritation or gritty-feeling eyes
- Watery eyes or excessive tearing
- Blurred or fluctuating vision, especially during prolonged screen use
- Contact lens wearers experiencing dryness or reduced wearing comfort
- Anyone with recurring eye discomfort that has not improved with basic lubricating drops
- Senior citizens, as dry eye symptoms can become more common with age
Why Can Dry Eyes Feel Watery?
Dry eye does not always mean your eyes feel dry. When the tear film becomes unstable or the eye surface is irritated, the eyes may respond by producing excess watery tears. These reflex tears may not provide the balanced lubrication needed for lasting comfort.
Treatment Tailored to the Cause
Dry eye treatment depends on what is contributing to your symptoms. Based on your assessment, our optometrists may recommend suitable lubricating eye drops, eyelid hygiene, warm compresses, changes to contact lens wear, environmental or screen-use adjustments, and other appropriate dry eye management options.
Regular review may also be recommended to monitor your response and adjust the treatment plan when needed.
